Dell Refurbished Processors
Dell PowerEdge servers are some of the most widely deployed in enterprise IT — and when a CPU fails or a performance upgrade is needed, finding the right replacement quickly matters. We stock refurbished Intel Xeon and AMD EPYC processors for PowerEdge servers across multiple generations, from 13th-gen R730 and R630 systems through to current 15th-gen platforms.
Every processor is inspected and tested under load before shipping under our ISO 9001-certified quality management system. Most orders ship from our warehouse in Denmark within 1–2 working days.

Intel Xeon for Dell PowerEdge
Most Dell PowerEdge servers run Intel Xeon processors. The right tier depends on your workload and server generation:
Platinum — for high-density, compute-heavy environments and multi-socket configurations. Common in R940, R940xa, and MX platforms running large virtualisation clusters or in-memory databases.
Gold — the most widely deployed tier for enterprise PowerEdge servers. Covers virtualization, SQL Server, SAP, analytics, and general enterprise workloads across R740, R640, and R840 systems.
Silver and Bronze — cost-effective options for R440, R540, and T440 servers running less demanding workloads, backup roles, or edge deployments.
AMD EPYC for Dell PowerEdge
From the 14th generation onwards, Dell introduced AMD EPYC support across select PowerEdge platforms — including the R7515, R7525, R6515, and R6525. EPYC processors offer high core counts and strong memory bandwidth, making them a good fit for virtualisation-dense environments and workloads that scale well across cores.
Finding the Right CPU for Your PowerEdge Server
Dell CPU compatibility depends on your exact PowerEdge model, server generation, socket type, and installed firmware version. A few things worth checking before you order:
Generation and socket must match — Xeon Scalable processors span multiple socket generations (LGA 3647, LGA 4189) that are not cross-compatible. AMD EPYC SP3 socket platforms are similarly generation-specific.
Some Dell CPUs carry Dell-specific part numbers — particularly on older PowerEdge generations where the firmware expects a Dell-qualified part. Matching the Dell part number rather than the Intel or AMD OEM number is the safest approach.
Dual-socket servers require matched processors — both CPUs need to be the same model and stepping.
If you know the Dell part number, search directly. If you're not sure, our team can confirm compatibility for your specific PowerEdge model and configuration. For a complete server build, use our Server Configurator to select compatible processors, memory, storage, and networking in one place.
Frequently Asked Questions
What Dell PowerEdge generations do you stock processors for? We stock processors for a wide range of PowerEdge generations, including widely deployed 13th-gen servers such as the R730 and R630, 14th-gen servers such as the R740 and R640, and newer platforms. If you have a specific generation or model in mind, our team can confirm availability.
Do you stock Dell-specific CPU part numbers? Yes — many older PowerEdge platforms require a Dell-qualified part number rather than the standard Intel or AMD OEM part. We stock Dell-specific CPU variants alongside standard OEM parts across our range.
Can I mix Intel and AMD processors in a dual-socket PowerEdge server? No — dual-socket PowerEdge servers require two processors of the same model and stepping. Intel and AMD processors are also not cross-compatible within the same system.
How much can I save with a refurbished Dell processor? Up to 80% versus buying new, depending on the model, generation, core count, and clock speed.
What's the warranty on a refurbished Dell processor? Every refurbished Dell processor comes with a 1-year warranty.
