Power Systems I/O adapters connect servers to networks, storage, and peripherals, and are identified by IBM feature codes and FRU part numbers. Older Power systems use PCI-X adapters while newer ones use PCIe, and IBM qualifies each adapter for specific systems, so an adapter that works in one Power generation may not be supported in another.
