IBM Refurbished Hard Drives

We stock refurbished IBM hard drives and SSDs for IBM storage systems and servers, in SAS, SATA, and NVMe, and in SFF and LFF form factors. Whether you're replacing a failed drive, adding capacity to an existing array, or keeping a legacy system running, we have refurbished IBM drives ready to ship. If you need a specific drive that isn't listed, our team can often source it.

Every refurbished drive is securely wiped to ISO 27001 standards, then inspected and tested before shipping under our ISO 9001-certified quality management system. Orders ship from our warehouse in Denmark — with express delivery, your order will be delivered within 1–2 working days.

Refurbished IBM SAS Hard Drives

SAS drives make up the largest part of our refurbished IBM stock, in both SFF and LFF form factors. The 10K and 15K SAS HDDs suit performance workloads, while 7.2K nearline drives cover capacity-focused storage such as backup and archiving. IBM qualifies drives per system and array, so match the drive to the model it was built for rather than choosing on capacity alone.

Refurbished IBM SSDs and Flash Drives

For flash storage, we stock refurbished IBM SAS SSDs and larger 12Gb SAS flash drives for IBM Storwize and FlashSystem arrays and for IBM servers. Flash drives suit boot volumes, virtualization, and databases where response time matters more than cost per terabyte. As with hard drives, array flash drives are qualified per system, so check your model's supported drive list before ordering.

Refurbished IBM FlashCore Modules

FlashCore Modules are IBM's own NVMe flash drives for FlashSystem and Storwize V7000 Gen3, with built-in hardware compression. Each FlashCore Module generation is supported only on specific enclosure models, so match the generation to your system rather than just the capacity. Capacities are quoted as usable (TBu) and effective (TBe), where effective capacity assumes compression.

Refurbished Legacy IBM Drives

For older IBM storage and servers, we stock refurbished legacy drives that are no longer sold new, including Fibre Channel drives and disk drive modules (DDMs) for older DS-series enclosures. These systems are long past end of sale, and a refurbished drive is often the only practical way to replace a failed one without migrating the data. Legacy drives are specific to their enclosure, so match the exact part number from your failed drive.

IBM Drive Part Numbers

IBM identifies the same drive in more than one way: a seven-character FRU part number such as 00AK202, or the storage system's machine type plus a feature code, such as 2072-ACLK. The bare feature code is also commonly used. Any of these can be used to find a replacement, and matching the number from your existing drive or system documentation is the most reliable approach. Search by any of them in our Parts Finder, or use our Storage Configurator or Server Configurator to check compatible drives for your system.

Frequently Asked Questions

What's the difference between a used and a refurbished IBM drive? A used drive is sold as-is, without testing or data wiping. Every drive we sell is refurbished: securely wiped to ISO 27001 standards, tested, and covered by a 1-year warranty. We're an independent refurbisher, not part of IBM's own programs.

Will a refurbished IBM drive work in my storage system? IBM storage systems qualify drives per model, so a drive that fits one array may not be supported in another. Match the FRU number or feature code from your existing drive, or contact our team with your system model and we'll confirm the right drive.

What do TBu and TBe mean on FlashCore Modules? TBu is usable capacity and TBe is effective capacity, which assumes compression. Size your array on usable capacity unless you know your data compresses reliably.

How much does a refurbished IBM hard drive cost? Prices are listed on each product and depend on the drive type, capacity, and speed. Refurbished IBM drives typically cost up to 80% less than new.

What's the warranty on a refurbished IBM hard drive? Every refurbished IBM drive comes with a 1-year warranty.
