Refurbished HPE SAS and SATA Hard Drives

SAS hard drives make up the largest part of our refurbished HP drive stock. HPE classifies its hard drives in two tiers. Midline drives spin at 7.2K RPM and are built for high-capacity, cost-efficient storage such as backup and archiving, with LFF capacities up to 24TB. Enterprise drives spin at 10K or 15K RPM and are built for performance and continuous duty. We stock both in SAS 12G and SATA 6G, in SFF and LFF, so you can match the drive class to your workload and to the drives already in your array.

 

Refurbished HPE SSDs and NVMe Drives

HPE rates its SSDs by endurance: Read Intensive for boot and read-heavy workloads, Mixed Use for general server and virtualization workloads, and Write Intensive for databases and logging. We stock refurbished HPE SSDs in SAS and SATA across these classes. For Gen10 Plus and Gen11 servers, we also stock NVMe drives in U.2 and U.3 form factors. Check your server's drive backplane before ordering NVMe, as not every drive bay supports it.

 

Drives for HPE MSA and 3PAR Drive Arrays

Drives for HPE MSA and 3PAR storage arrays carry array-specific firmware and part numbers, and a ProLiant server drive won't necessarily work in an array even if the capacity and interface match. We stock refurbished drives qualified for these arrays. Match the part number from your existing drive to confirm compatibility.

 

HPE Drive Part Numbers and Smart Carrier Trays

HPE drives have two part numbers. The option kit number ends in -B21, and the spare part number ends in -001, sometimes with a revision suffix such as -002 or -005. Drives for Gen8 and later servers come in HPE Smart Carrier trays, which have status LEDs and a "do not remove" indicator to prevent pulling a drive that's part of an active RAID rebuild. G7 and earlier servers use an older tray design, so drives aren't interchangeable between the two.
