Lenovo Refurbished Server Motherboards

We stock refurbished Lenovo motherboards for ThinkSystem, System x, and Flex System servers, from rack and tower servers to blade and dense compute nodes. Replacing a failed motherboard is often the fastest way to bring a server back into production without replacing the whole system.

Whether you're repairing a server or sourcing an exact board for an older system, we have refurbished Lenovo motherboards ready to ship. If you need a board that isn't listed, our team can often source it by part number or server model.

Every refurbished motherboard is inspected and tested before shipping under our ISO 9001-certified quality management system. Orders ship from our warehouse in Denmark — with express delivery, your order will be delivered within 1–2 working days.

Refurbished Lenovo ThinkSystem System Boards

ThinkSystem system boards are specific to the server model and processor generation. Gen1 and Gen2 boards for the same model, such as the SR630 or SR650, are different parts, and V2 and V3 models use newer boards that take newer processors. Some boards are listed with an embedded TPM, so check that against your server. Match the exact model, such as SR650 V2, rather than the family.

Refurbished Lenovo System x System Boards

System x system boards, such as those for the x3550 M4, x3550 M5, and x3650 M5, are listed by server model and machine type. The same server can have several machine types, for example 8871 and 5462 for the x3650 M5, and some boards come in v1 and v2 versions, so match the machine type and version from your server. These servers are long past end of sale, and a refurbished board is often the only practical way to repair them.

Refurbished Lenovo Blade and Compute Node Boards

For blade and dense compute nodes, we stock boards for the SN550, SD530, and Flex System x240 nodes. These are specific to the node type and chassis, so they can't be used in rack servers, and SN550 boards come in Gen1, Gen2, and Gen3 versions.

Lenovo Midplanes, Expansion Trays, and Backplanes

We also stock chassis midplanes for Flex System and BladeCenter H, processor and memory expansion trays for the SR850 and SR860, SR950 I/O planars, and drive backplanes. These are specific to the server or chassis model, so match the exact part number.

Replacing a Lenovo System Board

After a system board replacement, the server's machine type, serial number, and other product data usually need to be reprogrammed so the server keeps its identity. Lenovo's service documentation for your server covers the steps. Check the server model and processor generation against the board before ordering, because boards with similar descriptions are not interchangeable.

Lenovo System Board Part Numbers

Lenovo identifies a system board by a seven-character FRU number, such as 00AE502 or 00AE745, and by server model and generation. The same board is often sold under several FRU numbers, so match the server model, generation, and machine type rather than a single number. Search by any of them in our Parts Finder, or use our Server Configurator to check compatible hardware for your server.

Frequently Asked Questions

What's the difference between a used and a refurbished Lenovo motherboard? A used motherboard is sold as-is, without testing. Every motherboard we sell is refurbished: inspected, tested, and covered by a 1-year warranty. We're an independent refurbisher, not part of Lenovo's own programs.

What's the difference between Gen1 and Gen2 Lenovo system boards? They are different board revisions tied to the server's processor generation. Gen1 and Gen2 boards for the same model are different parts, so match the one your server uses, or contact our team with your server model.

Will a replacement system board need reprogramming? Usually yes. The server's machine type, serial number, and other product data typically need to be written to the new board. Check Lenovo's service documentation for your server before you start.

How much does a refurbished Lenovo motherboard cost? Prices are listed on each product and depend on the server model and generation. Refurbished Lenovo motherboards typically cost up to 80% less than new.

What's the warranty on a refurbished Lenovo motherboard? Every refurbished Lenovo motherboard comes with a 1-year warranty.
