Refurbished NetApp FAS and AFF Systems

NetApp FAS systems combine flash and spinning disks for unified file and block storage, while AFF arrays are all-flash for latency-sensitive workloads. Both run ONTAP, so a refurbished controller or system slots into the same management and data protection setup you already use. For dedicated SAN and high-throughput block storage, the E-Series rounds out the range.

When a model reaches end of support, refurbished hardware is often the most practical way to keep it in production until you’re ready to migrate.

NetApp Disk Shelves and Drives

Disk shelves are the easiest way to add capacity without replacing your controllers. Older shelves such as the DS4246 and DS2246 use IOM6 modules at 6Gb SAS, while newer shelves like the DS224C use IOM12 at 12Gb, so check which your system runs before you order.

NetApp systems only accept NetApp-qualified drives with NetApp firmware, which is why we stock drives under NetApp’s own part numbers. Browse the full range of refurbished NetApp hard drives and SSDs.

Refurbished NetApp Controllers and Spare Parts

Most NetApp failures come down to a single component, so the range covers the parts that keep an array online. That includes controllers, power supplies, fans, controller batteries, IOM modules, memory, cables, SFPs, and cluster switches. Replacing one part is usually far faster and cheaper than replacing the system.

Finding the Right NetApp Part

Start with the part number on the label of your current part. NetApp uses both X-numbers for drives and other components and numeric part numbers such as 108- or 114-, and you can search either one. NetApp’s Hardware Universe is the official reference for which parts your model supports.

You can also use our Storage Configurator or Parts Finder. Or send us your system model, and we’ll confirm a compatible part before you order.

FAQ

Is refurbished NetApp hardware reliable?
Yes. NetApp systems are built for continuous operation in data centers, and every refurbished part is tested before it ships. Each part comes with a 1-year warranty.

Will a refurbished drive work in my NetApp system?
Yes, as long as it’s a NetApp-qualified drive with the right part number for your shelf and ONTAP version. Generic drives without NetApp firmware won’t be recognized, so always order by NetApp part number.

Can I keep running a NetApp system after end of support?
Many businesses do. With refurbished spare parts and our hardware maintenance service, you can keep an end-of-life FAS or AFF system in production on your own timeline.

Do you buy used NetApp hardware?
Yes, from businesses and organizations. See how our IT buyback works, or send us a list of the NetApp systems and parts you want to sell.
