Supermicro Refurbished Hard Drives
Refurbished Supermicro hard drives give your servers more capacity, or a quick replacement for a failed disk, in the format your drive bays already take. The range runs from high-capacity spinning drives to enterprise SSDs and NVMe, so one order can cover both bulk storage and your fastest workloads.
Every drive is inspected and tested before shipping under our ISO 9001-certified quality management system. Orders ship from our warehouse in Denmark — with express delivery, your order will be delivered within 1–2 working days.
- 1-year warranty on all parts
- Tested under ISO 9001-certified quality control
- Save up to 80% compared to new
- Previous data securely erased before shipping
Refurbished Supermicro SAS and SATA Hard Drives
Spinning server hard drives are still the cheapest way to add a lot of storage. Large 3.5-inch drives go up to 18TB and suit backup, file, and archive servers, while the faster 2.5-inch SAS drives handle databases and busy virtual machines. A SAS hard drive works on most Supermicro storage backplanes, and SATA drives are a good fit for bulk capacity where speed matters less.
Refurbished Supermicro SSDs and NVMe Drives
A refurbished enterprise SSD in SATA or SAS drops straight into your existing bays and cuts response times right away. For servers with an NVMe backplane, U.2 and U.3 SSDs deliver much higher throughput, and U.3 drives also work in U.2 bays. Each SSD is rated as read-intensive or mixed-use, so match the endurance to how much your workload writes.
Supermicro SATA DOM Boot Drives
A SATA DOM plugs directly into a SATA port on the motherboard, so the operating system lives on its own small drive and every front bay stays free for data. On many Supermicro boards the yellow SATA ports supply power to the DOM, which means no extra cable is needed. M.2 SSDs in the range do the same job on boards with an M.2 slot.
Matching a Drive to Your Supermicro Server
Check two things before ordering: whether your backplane is SAS/SATA or NVMe, and whether the bays take 3.5-inch or 2.5-inch drives. A 2.5-inch drive can go in a 3.5-inch bay with the right caddy. Our Parts Finder lets you look up a part number, and the rest of our refurbished Supermicro hardware covers the controllers and parts around your storage.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is the previous owner’s data removed from refurbished drives?
Yes. Every drive is wiped before it’s tested and shipped, so you get a clean disk with no trace of earlier data. The process follows our ISO 27001-certified information security standard.
Can I use a SATA drive in a SAS bay on my Supermicro server?
Yes. SAS controllers and backplanes accept SATA drives, which makes SATA a cheaper option for bulk storage. It doesn’t work the other way: a SAS drive won’t run on a SATA-only controller.
What’s the difference between read-intensive and mixed-use SSDs?
It comes down to endurance, measured in drive writes per day. Read-intensive SSDs suit boot drives, web servers, and archives that mostly read data, while mixed-use SSDs handle databases and virtual machines that write constantly.
Can I sell the drives I take out of my Supermicro servers?
Yes. Send us a list of the hard drives and SSDs you’re retiring through our buyback service, and we’ll come back with an offer.
