Refurbished Intel Xeon Processors by Server Generation
Find your server's generation, then match the processor. Each group uses its own socket, so processors from different groups are not interchangeable.
- Xeon E5-2600 v1 and v2 (LGA2011): Dell PowerEdge 12G such as the R620 and R720, HPE ProLiant Gen8, and Lenovo System x M4 servers.
- Xeon E5-2600 v3 and v4 (LGA2011-3): Dell PowerEdge 13G such as the R630 and R730, HPE ProLiant Gen9, and Lenovo System x M5 servers.
- Xeon Scalable 1st and 2nd Gen, such as the 16-core Gold 6226R (LGA3647): Dell PowerEdge 14G such as the R640 and R740, HPE ProLiant Gen10, and the original Lenovo ThinkSystem SR630 and SR650.
- Xeon Scalable 3rd Gen (LGA4189): Dell PowerEdge 15G such as the R650 and R750, HPE ProLiant Gen10 Plus, and Lenovo ThinkSystem V2 servers.
- Xeon Scalable 4th and 5th Gen (LGA4677): Dell PowerEdge 16G such as the R660 and R760, HPE ProLiant Gen11, and Lenovo ThinkSystem V3 servers.
- Older Xeon X5500 and E5400 (LGA1366 and LGA771): Dell PowerEdge 10G and 11G, and HPE ProLiant G5 and G6.
A dual-socket server needs two identical processors, and the server's BIOS must support the model, so check its supported processor list before ordering.
Xeon Scalable Tiers: Bronze, Silver, Gold, and Platinum
Bronze and Silver suit entry-level virtualization and small databases in servers with up to two sockets. Gold is the mainstream choice for ERP, analytics, and hosting, with up to four sockets on the 6000 series. Platinum is built for four- and eight-socket systems, high core counts, and the heaviest data center workloads.
Intel Network Adapters, SSDs, and Power Supplies
Intel Ethernet adapters such as the X710 and I350 come in two- and four-port versions from 1GbE to 40GbE. The category also includes Intel SSDs and server power supplies. Server makers often give Intel adapters their own part numbers, so a Dell- or Lenovo-numbered adapter can be the same Intel card.
How to Find the Right Intel Part
Intel names a processor by its model, such as Gold 6226R, and an S-spec code starting with SR or SL, and server makers add their own numbers, such as Dell's 338- series. The same processor can appear under several of them, so match the model and S-spec rather than one number. Search by any of them in our Parts Finder, or build a server around the processor in our Server Configurator.

Frequently Asked Questions
Which Intel Xeon CPU fits my server? Start with your server's generation in the list above, then check the server's supported processor list for the exact model. Send us your server model and we'll confirm the CPU.
Are refurbished Intel CPUs locked or unlocked? Intel Xeon processors aren't vendor-locked, so they work in any server whose socket and BIOS support them. Some AMD EPYC processors in this category are labelled "unlocked" or "Dell locked": an unlocked CPU works in any compatible server, while a Dell-locked one only works in Dell servers.
Why does the same Intel processor have different part numbers? Intel assigns the model and S-spec, and server makers add their own numbers. The same chip can be listed under an Intel code, a Dell code, or an HPE code.
Are refurbished Intel processors safe to buy? Each one is inspected and tested before sale and carries a 1-year warranty. We refurbish independently of Intel.
How much cheaper are refurbished Intel processors? Each listing shows its price, which depends on the generation and core count. Expect up to 80% below the price of a new processor.
