Lenovo Refurbished Controllers

We stock refurbished Lenovo controllers for ThinkSystem, System x, and ThinkServer servers and Lenovo storage systems, including ServeRAID and ThinkSystem RAID controllers and SAS HBAs.

Whether you're replacing a failed controller, adding drive capacity, or sourcing an exact part for an older server, we have refurbished Lenovo controllers ready to ship. If you need a controller that isn't listed, our team can often source it by part number.

Every refurbished controller is inspected and tested before shipping under our ISO 9001-certified quality management system. Orders ship from our warehouse in Denmark — with express delivery, your order will be delivered within 1–2 working days.

Refurbished Lenovo ServeRAID and ThinkSystem RAID Controllers

ServeRAID M-series controllers are used in System x servers, and ThinkSystem RAID controllers in ThinkSystem servers. In the ThinkSystem range, the first digit shows the tier: the 530 has no cache, the 730 has cache, the 930 has flash-backed cache, and the 940 is a Gen4 controller with tri-mode support, while the 5350 and 9350 are newer versions of the 530 and 930 families.

ServeRAID M5100 and M5200 controllers use separate battery kits and upgrade kits for RAID 5 and cache. Both families are MegaRAID-based, so a replacement from the same family can normally import the existing array configuration, but back up your data before any controller swap.

Refurbished Lenovo SAS HBAs

SAS HBAs, such as the N2125, N2225, 430, 440, and 4350, pass drives straight through to the operating system without RAID. The 440 is the PCIe Gen4 generation. HBAs are used with software-defined storage, JBOD enclosures, and tape drives, so check whether your setup needs RAID before choosing between an HBA and a RAID controller.

Refurbished Lenovo M.2 and NVMe Controllers

For boot drives and NVMe storage, we stock M.2 RAID enablement kits, NVMe switch adapters, and NVMe retimer adapters. These are specific to the server model and backplane, so confirm your server before ordering.

Refurbished Lenovo Storage and Flex System Controllers

For storage systems, we stock refurbished controller enclosures and assemblies for Lenovo Storage V series, such as the V3700 V2, and for FlashSystem-based arrays. For Flex System, we stock ServeRAID controllers for compute nodes and chassis management modules. Controllers are specific to the array or chassis model, and the two controllers in a dual-controller array must be the same model, so check your machine type and model before ordering.

Lenovo Controller Part Numbers

Lenovo identifies a controller by a seven-character FRU number, such as 00FC631 or 00JY171, or by an option part number such as 4Y37A09730 or 7Y37A01085. The same controller is often sold under several numbers, so match the number from your existing controller or confirm the exact server model. Search by any of them in our Parts Finder, or use our Server Configurator or Storage Configurator to check compatible hardware.

Frequently Asked Questions

What's the difference between a used and a refurbished Lenovo controller? A used controller is sold as-is, without testing. Every controller we sell is refurbished: inspected, tested, and covered by a 1-year warranty. We're an independent refurbisher, not part of Lenovo's own programs.

What do 530, 730, 930, and 940 mean in ThinkSystem RAID controller names? The first digit shows the tier. The 530 has no cache, the 730 has cache, the 930 has flash-backed cache, and the 940 is a Gen4 controller with tri-mode support. The suffix, such as 8i or 16i, shows the port count.

Will a replacement controller keep my RAID configuration? In most cases, yes, when you replace a controller with one from the same family. The RAID configuration is stored on the drives and can normally be imported by the replacement. Back up critical data before any controller replacement.

How much does a refurbished Lenovo controller cost? Prices are listed on each product and depend on the controller type, cache size, and generation. Refurbished Lenovo controllers typically cost up to 80% less than new.

What's the warranty on a refurbished Lenovo controller? Every refurbished Lenovo controller comes with a 1-year warranty.
